AHMADIYYA MUSLIM YOUTH ORGANISATION, NIGERIA COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE 50TH ANNUAL NATIONAL (IJTEMA) CONVENTION HELD AT GOVERNMENT GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL, DUTSE, ABUJA BETWEEN THURSDAY 18TH APRIL AND SUNDAY 21TH APRIL, 2024

 

The Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya (Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation) Nigeria, comprising male members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at between the ages of 7 and 40 organised an Annual National Youth Convention at Girls Secondary School, Dutse, Abuja BETWEEN THURSDAY 18TH APRIL AND SUNDAY 21ST APRIL 2024 on the theme: “Unveiling Impacts and Sustaining a Legacy for Service to Humanity”. The Convention was declared open by the Sadr (President) of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Mr Abdur Roqib Akinyemi.

The convention was attended by a total of one thousand two hundred and eight two (1,282) participants. Participants cut across sixteen (16) states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We also recorded participation of 25 foreign members of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya from the United Kingdom (2), Ghana (8), the Republic of Benin(7), Togo(2), Cameroon(2), Germany(1), and Burkina Faso(2).

 

The objectives of the programme are:

 

  1. To foster a deeper understanding of Khilafat: The convention aimed to explore the concept of Khilafat, a central tenet in Ahmadiyya Islam, and its significance in guiding the Muslim world towards unity and progress.
  2. To cultivate a vision for a transformed Nigeria through interfaith harmony: By promoting brotherhood and understanding beyond religious borders, the convention aimed to empower Ahmadi Muslim youth to be agents of positive change and contribute to a more united and peaceful Nigeria.
  3. To reignite the flames of faith and moral excellence: The convention aimed to equip young Ahmadi Muslims with the knowledge and inspiration to strengthen their faith and become role models for moral virtue within their communities.
  4. To celebrate a legacy of service and inspire future contributions: The convention commemorated the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation’s 50 years of serving humanity in Nigeria. By highlighting past achievements, the event aimed to motivate the next generation to continue this tradition of impactful service.
  5. To commemorate the golden jubilee of the Ijtema convention: Marking the 50th anniversary of the Ijtema held immense significance. The convention aimed to celebrate this milestone and use it as a springboard to propel the organization towards even greater achievements in the future.
  6. To amplify the positive social impact of Ahmadi Muslim youth: The convention provided a platform to discuss and showcase the contributions of Ahmadi Muslim youth to Nigeria’s social development. This aimed to inspire continued efforts in areas like education, healthcare, and community service.
  7. To craft a roadmap for enduring service to humanity: A core objective of the convention was to develop sustainable strategies for the ffuture. By engaging young minds, the aim was to ensure that Ahmadi Muslim youth continue to leave a lasting positive impact on humanity for generations to come

The theme of the Convention is “UNVEILING IMPACTS AND SUSTAINING A LEGACY FOR SERVICE TO HUMANITY”. Other topics delivered at the Ijtema include:

  1. Ahmadi Muslim Youth: Our Impact on Nigeria’s Social and Human Capital Development

The Convention also discussed the theme through face-to-face interaction and facilitation between the lecturers and the participants.

 

Activities at the Convention included courtesy visitations, free healthcare delivery exercises, educational and sporting events which encouraged participants to compete healthily among themselves across all 16 states. The activities are as follow:

  • Free Health Campaign: Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Nigeria organized a free medical outreach at LEA Primary School Dutse Alhaji, Abuja where more than 150 community people at Dutse were diagnosed and treated for various ailments.
  • Press Conference: Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Nigeria held a conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja where the Muslim youth leader delivered his press release and entertained questions from members press men at the venue.
  • Courtesy Visitations: MKAN visited HRH Alhaji Awwal Musa Muhammad Ijakoro II, the Emir of Bwari, HRH Sheikh (Dr.) Ibrahim Yusuf, Police Area Second-in-Command, BabaGana B.G, Director, Department of State Security (DSS), FCT Command, Mr Ado Mu’azu, fs(ADG), Dr. Muhammad Sani Ladan, Director of the FCT Secondary Education Board, The (Director co-curricular) FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB) and Education Secretariat, Hajia Fatima Gambo Babba, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) headquarters and were received by Corps Marshal Commander RS7.1, Abuja (WUNA F. LUKA) to familiarize the personalities with the programmes. While seeking their supports, MKAN also uses the medium to explain the ideal teachings of Ahmadiyya and activities of the youth wing.
  • Public Lecture: Both Ahmadis and Non-Ahmadis were enlightened in a public lecture on “Khilafat: The Missing Link in The Muslim World”
  • Symposium: At the symposium, lots of dignitaries from different spheres of life, including Amir Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Alhaj, Barr Abdul-Azeez Alatoye, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako the hon. minister of state Federal Ministry of Environment, HRH Oba Remikao, Ambassador of Peace, Rev. Dr. Patrick, Comr. Barr. Sulaiman Abuso, GM FAAN, Muhammad Sanni, representing the Airport Jama’at Authority, Rep of Minister for Budget and National Planning and other personalities within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat were on seat, just as the theme of the Convention was discussed extensively by the guest speaker, Engr. Oladoja Tajudeen with educative illustrations and examples.
  • Environmental Sanitation: Members of the Majlis participated in environmental sanitation to rid the city of dirt which could cause diseases.
  • Educational/Sporting Events: Football, athletics, scrabble, dart, taekwondo, arm wrestling, power pull, quiz, and message delivery, among others were held to instill the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness among the youths.

 

 

Among the key observations at the end of the 4-day Convention are:

  1. The convention emphasized understanding the concept of Khilafat (religious leadership) and its role in Muslim unity and progress.

 

  1. Interfaith Harmony: Promoting understanding and brotherhood beyond religious lines was a key objective, aiming to empower Ahmadi youth for a more peaceful Nigeria.

 

  1. Strengthening Faith and Morality: Equipping young members with knowledge to strengthen their faith and become role models for moral virtue was a core goal.

 

  1. Celebrating Legacy of Service: The convention commemorated 50 years of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation’s service to humanity in Nigeria.

 

  1. The convention aimed to showcase the positive contributions of Ahmadi Muslim youth to Nigeria’s social development.

 

  1. Planning for Future Service: Developing sustainable strategies for future impactful service to humanity was a central objective.

 

  1. Engaging Young Minds: The convention actively engaged young people to ensure their continued positive impact for generations to come.

 

  1. High Attendance: With over 1,282 participants from 16 Nigerian states, 25 foreign delegated, the convention demonstrates the organization’s strong youth presence.

 

After thorough and exhaustive discussions during the Convention, the recommendations are as declare as follows: 

 

  1. Deepen Your Understanding of Khilafat: Continue studying the concept of Khilafat and its role in guiding the Muslim world. Explore how this concept can be applied to promote unity and progress in the communities.

 

  1. Become Ambassadors of Interfaith Harmony: Initiate and participate in interfaith dialogues and activities that build bridges of understanding and cooperation with people of other faiths. Promote the message of peaceful coexistence in your daily lives.

 

  1. Strengthen Your Faith and Moral Compass: Diligently engage in activities that enhance your Islamic knowledge and commitment to your faith.  Be role models for moral excellence by embodying Islamic values in your actions and interactions.

 

  1. Carry Forward the Legacy of Service: Become actively involved in MKAN’s humanitarian initiatives. Identify local needs and develop projects that address those needs, continuing the tradition of impactful service to humanity.

 

  1. Embrace Innovation for Sustainable Service: Think creatively and explore innovative approaches to ensure the long-term sustainability of MKAN’s service projects. Consider utilizing technology and collaboration to maximize impact.

 

  1. Mentor and Inspire the Next Generation: Become mentors and role models for younger Ahmadi Muslim youth. Share your knowledge, experiences, and passion for service to inspire them to become active contributors to society.

 

  1. Advocate for Social Development: Raise your voices and actively participate in discussions concerning social development in Nigeria. Advocate for policies and initiatives that promote education, healthcare, and social justice for all Nigerians.

 

  1. Continuously Evaluate and Improve: Regularly assess the effectiveness of MKAN’s youth programs and service projects. Be open to feedback and strive for continuous improvement to ensure maximum positive impact.

 

  1. Document and Share Your Achievements: Effectively document the positive contributions of Ahmadi Muslim youth to Nigerian society. Share these stories through various media platforms to inspire others and garner support for future endeavors.
  2. Stay Connected and Network: Maintain strong connections with fellow MKAN members across Nigeria. Build a strong network for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual support in your service efforts.

 

The participants expressed their sincere appreciation to the leadership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, the principals of Government Girls Secondary School Dutse, the security agencies and other eminent personalities for their support towards the success of the Convention. They also thank the MKAN leadership for this bold initiative at organizing the 50th Golden Jubilee of Annual National (Ijtema) Convention to make every Majlis member a better person in the society.
