The University College Hospital (U.C.H), Ibadan, Oyo State has rewarded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya), Oyo State for its voluntary blood donation to the hospital’s blood bank on the occasion of the 2020 World Blood Donors Day.

Mr. Hussein Muftau, the State President of the Organization gave insights to his group’s meritorious service.

His words: “Our organization is well known among others for this welfare service which has spanned over 40 years to the U.C.H Blood Bank and National Blood Transfusion Service.”

“We believe our blood will be used for trauma and road accident victims, obstetric labour complications, patients with anemia, orthopedic, cancer patients, and blood-related diseases, among others.”

“In 2019 alone, our members in Oyo State donated over 600 pints to both U.C.H Blood Bank, National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH). Besides, on the occasion of 2020 World Blood Donor, our members in Oyo State also donated 54 pints owing to the COVID-19 rules,” Hussein explained.

He also added that the first quarter donation in March 2020 recorded 181 pints by our members at both U.C.H and N.B.T.S respectively.

Earlier in his speech, the Chief Medical Director of the prestigious University College Hospital (U.C.H), Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo noted that Blood is one of the very special ways God shows his supremacy, making it known that there is no modern technology that can manufacture blood. If it’s not donated by somebody, it cannot be generated and used for whomsoever is in need, he said.

Similarly, while appreciating and presenting awards to a group of voluntary donors, he gave kudos to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization for its consistent life-saving drive for free blood donation for about four decades.
